Adair County History

Established in 1851, Adair County is located in western Iowa and was named after John Adair, a general in the War of 1812 and the eighth Governor of Kentucky. The county seat, Greenfield, developed as a regional agricultural center. As of the 2020 census, Adair County has a population of 7,496 residents.
