Adair County History: Adair County is a county in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,496. The county was named after John Adair, a general in the War of 1812 and the eighth Governor of Kentucky. Adair County was formed in 1851, from sections of Pottawattamie County. The current Adair County Court House was opened in 1940.
