Adair County History: Adair County is a county in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,496. The county was named after John Adair, a general in the War of 1812 and the eighth Governor of Kentucky. Adair County was formed in 1851, from sections of Pottawattamie County.
