Dubuque County History
Dubuque County is named after French-Canadian pioneer Julien Dubuque, who established early lead-mining operations and worked closely with the local Fox tribe. As of the 2020 census, the population was 99,266. The county later became a hub for lumber, milling, brewing, machinery, and river commerce.
