The Iowa Land Market Is Changing
The land market continues to evolve, and recent conversations confirm that shift. We recently returned from the National Land Conference hosted by the Realtors Land Institute, where brokers from across the country shared insight into current conditions.
Despite ongoing discussion around interest rates, one theme was clear. Interest rates have not slowed the land market. Instead, today’s market remains largely cash driven.
That said, several trends have emerged. Below is a snapshot of how the Iowa land market performed over the past year.
Iowa Farmland Auction Results
Based on results from 78 farmland auctions totaling 8,639 acres, Iowa land values continue to show strength.
- Statewide average: $11,676 per acre
- High-quality farmland: $13,295 per acre
- Medium-quality farmland: $10,044 per acre
- Low-quality farmland: $5,967 per acre
While values vary by quality and location, demand for well-positioned farmland remains steady across the state.
