David Whitaker Wins Kentucky Battle of the Bluegrass Auctioneer Championship
David Whitaker earned the championship title at the Kentucky Battle of the Bluegrass Auctioneer Championship, held Friday, August 19, and Saturday, August 20, in Lexington, Kentucky. This respected competition draws top auctioneers from across the country and tests their skill, professionalism, and command of the auction industry.
Auctioneering Background & Experience
David attended auction school in 2008 and earned his real estate license in November 2010. Today, he serves as Owner-Operator and Managing Broker of Whitaker Marketing Group. In this role, he leads farmland sales, real estate marketing, and auction services across Iowa and the Midwest.
Through years of contract auctioneering, David built hands-on experience conducting many types of auctions nationwide. Additionally, he remains active in the Realtor Land Institute, the National Auctioneers Association, and several state auctioneer associations. Because of his commitment to continuing education and market awareness, clients rely on him as a trusted advisor for farmland sales and acquisitions.
Passion for Farmland & Auction Marketing
After selling millions of dollars in assets, David narrowed his focus to farmland sales. He thrives on the challenge of marketing high-value agricultural properties. At the same time, David and his wife, Ann, recognize that strong marketing drives successful auctions. As a result, they continue to deliver industry-leading strategies for their clients.
Over the years, David’s passion, stage presence, and professionalism have earned him multiple auctioneering championship titles. Outside of work, David and Ann live and farm near Ames, Iowa, with their two sons, Colton and Caleb.
Award Details & Competition Coverage
The first-place prize for the Kentucky Battle of the Bluegrass Auctioneer Championship totaled $5,000.
The International Auctioneer Championship (IAC) streamed live throughout the event on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. To compete, contestants must be at least 18 years old, hold current NAA membership, and register for the Conference and Show.
