Benton County History

Benton County was established on December 21, 1837, and named after Thomas Hart Benton, a U.S. Senator from Missouri. The county seat is Vinton. Benton County later became part of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area. Additional historical details can be found on the county’s Wikipedia page.
